NGS

 


NGS is one of the most well known aspects of the scientific method but not many people know how it works in the long run. So what exactly is it? Well, it provides you with a new sequence & can be used for a lot of different things. The first one is known as the micro biome. This allows you to find the microbial community once you have your own set of samples. You can do this by sequencing the DNA for extraction. The next one is known as meta genomics. You can get this from a sequence of DNA that has been acquired from one of the samples in the environment. There is also WGS & this is when you sequence a small genome as well as a large human. You do this by making a library out of that sample & the DNA within it. Next is the crispr analysis where you can sequence it & analyze it in an effort to do what is now known as genetic editing.

There is also a new one known as gene copy where NGS is often used to find how many insertion sites there are as well as the exact location of them. Next on the list is plasmid sequencing which can be used to build up your library & sequence it with more than 100 times the coverage you would normally get in these situations. Up next is RNA sequencing where you can compare a lot of genes to see which ones are best for splicing. & finally you have what is now known as small RNA sequencing which can give you a lot of things such as RNA extraction. So these are just some of the things you need to keep in mind when working with an NGS.
